Different people like to eat rice in different ways.  This is the simplest and tastiest way to eat rice according to me. Curd Rice is a dish of South Indian origin.  But it is famous in all rice producing parts of India.

 

For me Curd Rice is great food particularly in summer.  Even after having a lot of spicy food, small quantity of Curd Rice gives a cooling sensation to the stomach. I love to eat it whole year.

 

Here we will see two different ways of preparing curd rice. 

 

 

 

The first and simple method is

  • Add curd and salt in boiled rice and mix it well.
  • Heat oil in a pan and add mustard and urad dal.
  • They start popping, and then add curry leaves, asafetida and chillies.
  • Remove from the flame and pour it on the rice.
  • Garnish it with coriander leaves.

Another method is good for preparing the curd rice in summer, which will keep its taste intact.  This method will be useful when you will be on outing and will eat card rice after some hours of its preparation.

 

  • Add milk and boiled rice together and mix it well.
  • Add a small quantity of buttermilk or curd in the above mixture.
  • Heat oil in a pan and add mustard and urad dal, curry leaves, asafetida and chillies.
  • Pour it on rice like earlier method.
  • Garnish it with coriander leaves.
  • Let the curd set in rice

One can eat it after six to seven hours to get the taste of original curd rice.

The specialty of this method is, you will get the same taste of the curd rice which you get by adding the curd instantly.
