Dana Point Whale watching : Festival Of Whales 2012

Dana Point Whale watching

Days:  March 3-4,2012  & March 10-11, 2012.

Watching whales in large numbers at a time is always a wonderful experience.  You can enjoy this if you are going to visit the Dana Point Whale watching Festival.

Migration of whales from Alaska to Mexico starts from December till March.  California Gray whales migrate almost 5000 miles in this period.  During this time, 40 to 50 California Gray whales pass from DANA POINT every day.   One will get the best whale watching experience of their life at DANA POINT.  So a visit is must!

Even the whale watching excursions are organized at such times.

Headlands Conservation Park is one more such place from where you can get a leviathan glimpse of these whales from the land.  The public trail system is available in the park which starts at 7 am to sunset daily.  One more attraction of the place is The Nature Interpretive Centre.  It is just adjacent to Headlands Conservation Park.  Centre hours are 10am – 4pm

Free shuttle is available to ocean point from DANA POINT for visitors.  The free shuttle will be available every day from the day of festival from 10 am to 4.30 pm. ( On first Saturday  it will be on extended working hrs for parade and on the last Sunday to accommodate the Grunion run and concert on water only)

For the people who love shopping at such places, arrangements have been made on the harbor on both the week ends. You can buy t- shirts and sweat shirts which are kept by public demand.

For shuttle stops, routes, parking lot and even location see this link http://festivalofwhales.com/areainfo.php

It will be a great adventurous, enjoyable experience and a great weekend outing for your family for sure.
