Goa Carnival 2012

The most awaited event of Goa   “Goa Carnival” will be held from 18^th Feb. 2012 to 21^st Feb. 2012.  You will see a lot of excitement among the people.

The history of this Carnival takes us 500 yrs back when Goa was a colony of Portuguese.  But now the Carnival has more Goan flavor.

The streets will be full of lively processions, strumming of guitars, graceful dance and much more fun.  Even short plays depicting the traditions and culture of Goa are played in unique way. Eat, drink and make merry along with dance, processions and music is the main theme of the Carnival. The men and women put fancy clothes and wear beautiful masks and danced to the Roman music.  If you will move towards the villages of Goa , you will see the male dancers with oil lamps, shaking themselves to the beats of drums and singing and praising their ancestors.

Earlier this festival was limited to the participation of local people but now it has been popular all over the world.
